Obituary of Anthony Grippe

FRANKFORT-Mr. Anthony S. "Tony" Grippe, age 84 of 505 Fourth Avenue, Ext., Frankfort, beloved husband of Arlene (Mallozzi) Grippe, entered into eternal rest on Saturday morning, December 11, 2010 in The Pines Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Utica. Mr. Grippe was born on September 22, 1926 in Frankfort, son of the late Philip and Francesca (Cuomo) Grippe and educated in the Frankfort School system. Tony was joined in marriage with Dorothy Sgroi who passed away on October 23, 1981. On February 10, 1993 he was united in marriage with the former Arlene Mallozzi in Florida; a blessed union of 17 years. Mr. Grippe last professional employment was as the owner and operator of Grippes Contracting, Frankfort. Committed to a hard and honorable work ethic, Mr. Grippe put his heart and soul into any job that he took on. For many years he was employed with the Town of Frankfort as a foreman/mechanic, owned and operated the Flying A Gas Station/Repair Shop in Ilion ,the Arlington Hotel/Bar in Frankfort and the Knobb Hill Trailer Park, Ilion. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Tony was a family man who considered his loved ones as the primary focus of his life. He was a dedicated and attentive man who served as a gentle and steadfast caregiver tending to the needs of his family with great devotion. He offered support and guidance to his children and had a strong and honorable work ethic. His loving family that survives him include his wife Arlene at home; his children: Robert Grippe and wife Francine of Frankfort, Kathy Evans and husband Bill of Ilion, and Francis Grippe and wife Cindy also of Frankfort; Scott Walrod and wife Kathy of Ct., and Renee Arcuri and husband Rick of Holland Patent; and a sister: Evelyn Harte of Frankfort; sister in law: Mary Ann Guariglia of Rochester; his cherished grandchildren: Bobby, Eric, Brenda, Brandon, Anthony, Francis, Christopher, Brian, Alexandra, Ricky and Danneile; ten great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death an infant son: Anthony Grippe, Jr., by four brothers: Frank, Louis, Sam and Joseph Grippe and by three sisters: Marie Grippe, Florence Cushman and Grace Grippe. The family will receive relatives and friends at the new Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, town of Frankfort, 894-8000, on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. Mr. Grippe's funeral will commence at 9:45 am on Wed., Dec. 15, 2010 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10:30 am from Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church, Frankfort where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor assisted by Deacon James Bower. Funeral procession will follow to the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel where prayers of committal will be offered. Kindly consider memorial offerings in his name to the Alzheimer's Association; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. The family offers its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Pines Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Utica for their kindness and compassion.
