Obituary of Alma Hysack

HERKIMER-MOHAWK - Alma "Wilma" J. Hysack, age 75, of Herkimer, formerly of Mohawk, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, unexpectedly, at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. She was born on September 8, 1935, in Mohawk, the daughter of Floyd and Doris (Boudry) Ford, and attended Frankfort schools. At one time, she was married to Raymond Hysack, Sr. Alma was employed as a sewing machine operator at the Joy Taylor Dress Co. in Mohawk for 10 years. She was a member of the Herkimer Salvation Army and its Ladies Home League and League of Mercy. Alma was a compassionate helper to the elderly, raised two foster children and was an avid Yankee fan. Her life has centered around her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Leland Lasher, of Herkimer, and Brenda and James "Rick" Parr, of Brusly, LA; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Brenda Hysack, of Herkimer; a special daughter-in-law, Lori LeCuyer; a special daughter, Debra Keeler and her husband, John, Jr., of Mohawk; grandchildren, Rebecca Lasher, Christopher Miller, Brennan Parr, Craig, Brian, Jr., and Sarah Hysack, Amber, Seth and Macaulay Hysack; her great-granddaughter, RaeLynn Hysack; one foster brother, Gordon Graves; three foster sisters, Arleen Kellog, Coreen Chote and Elaine Lefever; three sisters, Viola Church, Patricia Burleigh and Doreen Lindsay; three brothers, Charles, Dennis and David Ford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Doris Ford; two sisters, Louella Wells and Loretta Reisel; one son, Raymond Hysack, Jr.; five brothers, Gary, Raymond, Jack, Marvin and Roger Ford, a foster son Eric Horning and one grandson, Kyle Hysack, in 2009. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Alma's Memorial Service at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Major James Smith, of the Oneonta Salvation Army, officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 4 PM to 6 PM prior to the Memorial Service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Alma J. Hysack Memorial Fund. Special envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Hysack family has entrusted all service arrangements and supervision to Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
