<b>Visitations</b> <p></p> <b>Services</b> <p></p> <b>Cemetery</b> <p></p> <b>Obituary</b> <p>George Irwin, 92, formerly of 23 Park St., Ilion, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at the Folts Homes, Herkimer. Mr. Irwin was born July 3, 1913, in England, son of Lewis and Bertha (New) Irwin. He attended schools in England. George was last employed in Shinnor, England, retiring in 1976 with over 30 years of service with his company prior to relocating in Ilion. with his daughter, Christine, and her husband Ed Booth. He enjoyed toiling in the garden and tending the roses, was an avid NASCAR, Formula One and Motocross fan, enjoyed birdwatching and loved animals, especially the family pets. George was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Edwin Booth of Ilion; his son, Maurice Irwin and his wife Carol of Stoke on Trent, England; seven grandchildren, John Booth and his wife Charlene, Demmey Booth, Mark Booth and his wife Cindy, Simon Irwin and his wife Nellie, Paul Irwin and his wife Anna, and Samantha and James Irwin, four great-grandchildren, Lewis, Kathleen, Daniel and Jesse Irwin; one sister, Betty Munday of England, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Francis and James Irwin and his grandson, John Irwin. Mr. Irwin's funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, commencing at noon at the Applegate &amp; Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Father Anthony Barratt officiating. Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-noon at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Interment will take place at his family plot in England. In lieu of floral offerings please consider memorials in Mr. Irwin's memory to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Donation envelopes are available at the funeral home.
