Obituary

Mr. Allen Eugene "The Hawk" Irons, Sr., namesake and
descendent of Ethan Allen of the Vermont Green Mountain Boys, a true patriot.
Beloved husband of Frances P. "Chic" (Durse) Irons, Allen entered into eternal rest
on Saturday morning, August 2, 2003 in Plano, Texas Medical Center.
Mr. Irons was born on March 22, 1928 in Frankfort, son of the late David A. and
Mary Ellen (Graves) Irons. Allen attended Frankfort High School where he excelled
in basketball and track setting new records. He graduated with the Frankfort High
School class of 1945. He attended Utica College and was a lifelong Frankfort
resident. On June 18, 1949 he joined in marriage with his soul mate, the former
Frances P. Durse at St. Mary's Church in Frankfort. Throughout their 54 years of
marriage, the couple shared a close and endearing relationship, one which has
brought both of them great and fulfilling happiness. They proved to be a husband
and wife who were very well suited to one another, each one complementing and
supporting the other in all aspects and situations of their life together. After proudly
enlisting with the U.S. Navy he was stationed in Guam. Mr. Irons compiled a
successful record of loyal and conscientious work and also established a
well-respected reputation for himself as a New York State Trooper from where he
retired in 1983. He gained sincere and rewarding pride working with the United
States Marshall Service as a Court Security Officer. He was a communicant of Our
Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Allen lived each day in a simple
manner, relying upon the guidance and inspiration of his devout and steadfast faith.
He was a member of the PBA, Retired New York StateTroopers Association,
Retired Troopers Association of America and the St. Francis Society.
Affectionately known by family and friends as "The Hawk", Allen dedicated
himself as well as his time and his energies to the responsibilities and the joys of
family life. He was proud of his children?s accomplishments and honored by the
love and respect they showed him. As a husband, father and grandfather, he always
proved to be a loving, supportive and devoted influence in the lives of his loved
ones. He was a man who was incomparably well matched to his life's work and
mission and was truly blessed with a kind heart, a generous attitude, and a hopeful
spirit. His own strength of character and his personal value system made him an
exemplary role model to all. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his sons and
grandchildren. Listening to Country Western music was another favorite pastime.
He also enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida.
