Obituary of Millie Jones

ILION - Mildred "Millie" T. Jones, age 99, formerly of London Towers, Ilion, and Schuyler, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on May 27, 1911, in Utica, the daughter of Paul and Louise (Biledeau) Fauvelle, and graduated from Utica Free Academy. On February 2, 1942, she was married to Wm. Sam Jones in Ilion. He died on July 28, 1991. Mrs. Jones was employed as a machine operator at Sperry Rand Univac, Ilion, for over twelve years. She later worked at General Electric Co. for sixteen years, retiring in 1972. Millie was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Deerfield Senior Citizens, Court St. Bridget # 265 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Schuyler Card Club. She was also a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer, and past President of the Schuyler Senior Citizens. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Ellen Jones, of Sharon Springs, NY, and Deacon Dennis and Christine Jones, of Ilion; six grandchildren, Eric Jones and wife, Maura, of Stuyvesant Falls, NY, Heather Gay and husband, Wayne, of Ilion, Adam Jones and wife, Dawn, of Albany, Chari Jones-Bogardus and husband, Richard, of Schenectady, Kelly Jones and husband, Kane Ahuna, of Portland, OR, and Kevin Jones and wife, Mary, of Albany; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cory, Ryan, Aidan and Ava Jones; two great-great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Dominic; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam; her brothers, Arthur, Samuel, Leo and Harry Fovel; her sisters, Lena Leonard, Edna Mesick, Blanche Schafer, Gladys Loomis, Alice Siegart, Flora Shields and Laura Fovel. Funeral Services will be held 9:15 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2011, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, and 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Leo Potvin, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, North Utica, NY. Calling hours are Sunday, February 6, 2011, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the funeral home. Members of Court St. Bridget # 265 will conduct the Wake Service on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. Also, members will meet on Monday, February 7, 2011, at 9:45 a.m. at the church to provide an Honor Guard for Millie. The Jones' family entrusted all funeral arrangements and supervision to their family funeral director and friend, Don Applegate.
