Obituary of Lucille Kinney

ILION - Lucille A. Kinney, age 76, of 90 S. Fourth Ave., Ilion, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, NY. She was born on June 8, 1935, in Mohawk, NY, the daughter of Rocco and Florence (Minosh) Kinney. Lucille was a graduate of Ilion High School and earned her Masters Degree at the University of New Hampshire. At one time, she taught school in Niagara Falls. She later was employed in Little Falls, where she taught Biology and Chemistry for 35 years, retiring several years ago. Lucille was an active member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, where she was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of various church and parish groups and organizations, including the Prayer and Worship Committee, Faith Sharing groups, Bereavement Committee, Food Pantry and Salvation Army Cafe. Lucille was also a committed and active member of the Cursillo Movement. She was also a member of the Historical Club. Survivors include one sister, Barbara Saponaro, of Hopkinton, MA; one nephew, William Saponaro, of San Jose, CA; one niece, Nichole Fino and her husband, Mark, of Oxford, MA; one great-nephew, Derek Fino, of Oxford, MA; one uncle, Dominick Minosh, of Frankfort, NY; several cousins; and many friends. Funeral services will be held 10:15 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, and 11 AM at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours are Saturday, June 11, 2011, from 8:15 AM -10:15 AM prior to the funeral home service. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Missionary Sisters of Charity. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Kinney family has entrusted all funeral arrangements and supervision to their Family Funeral Director, Don Applegate.
