Obituary of Paul Kempe

MOHAWK-Mr. Paul Kempe, 88 of State Route 168 (Creek Road), Mohawk passed away on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2010 in Valley Health Services, Herkimer, with his daughter, Nancy, by his side. He was born on September 28, 1922 in Ridgefield Park, NJ son of the late Paul and Irene (Collins) Kempe and educated in Staten Island schools. He was united in marriage with Marguerite Reebe on November 15, 1947 in Staten Island; a blessed union of 62 years. Mr. Kempe was a World War II veteran serving with the US Navy and was honorably discharged. He was last employed with the New York City Dept. of Sanitation at the same landfill of where the remains of the 9/11 site were brought, retiring in 1986 after several years of dedicated service. He was of the Catholic Faith. Paul and his family moved to Mohawk in 1988 to a farm he loved. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife: Marguerite of Mohawk; a daughter, Nancy Ann Capes and husband Larry of Mohawk and a son: Robert Kempe and wife Denise of Barnagat, NJ; two sisters: Irene Dieck and husband Richard of New Jersey and Helen Noorozy also of New Jersey; a granddaughter: Katlyn Kempe of New Jersey; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mr. Kempe's wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of his family. Kindly consider memorial contributions to the Herkimer County Humane Society in Paul's memory. The family offers their gratitude to the staff of Valley Health Services, Herkimer for their kindness and compassion. Arrangements of cremation are being handled through Daniel J. Enea of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer.
