Obituary of Dorothy Licari

FRANKFORT-Mrs. Dorothy E. (Cool) Licari, age 77, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 11, 2011 in St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 10, 1934 in Little Falls, daughter of the late William and Mary (Canorro) Cool, was educated in Herkimer schools, and attended St. Mary's School of Nursing, Amsterdam. She was united in marriage on May 7, 1955 in St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, with Salvatore L. "Sam" Licari; a loving and devoted union celebrating their 56th anniversary this past Saturday. She was last employed as a secretary with Jerry Levin, Herkimer and was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Dorothy was very active at the church and organized many craft fairs. She was also a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Frankfort. Lovingly and wholeheartedly, Dorothy dedicated herself to the roles that made up her personal life: deeply committed to her family, she was an outstanding wife, exceptional mother and a wonderful grandmother. Dorothy was blessed with a warm and friendly attitude, a good and open heart, and a genuine and gracious manner. In her spare time, she loved needle work, reading and was a talented cook. She leaves a legacy of love and inspiration. Survivors include her family; her husband, Sam at home; four children: Vita Licari of Pa., Lewis Licari of Frankfort, Marie Licari-Hillicoss of Albany, and Denise Licari-Cisternino and husband John of New Jersey; a sister, Cecelia Rougas and husband John of Liverpool; four cherished grandchildren, Kevin and Sarah Hillicoss and Bianca and Rocco Cisternino; many nieces, nephews and cousins and inlaws: Angie Hazlett of Nelliston and Leonard Licari of Syracuse. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Chester, William and Pat Cool and by a son in law, Fred Hillicoss. The Licari family will be present to receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., town of Frankfort (894-8000) on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. Dorothy's funeral will commence at 9:45 am on Monday, May 16th from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10:30 from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Very Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial offerings to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet at the funeral home for services at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The family is being served by Funeral Director, Daniel J. Enea.
