Obituary of Nicholas Lawrence

HERKIMER-Nicholas Anthony "Nick" Lawrence, 17 years old, entered eternal rest early Monday morning, March 7, 2011 in the comfort of his home in the presence of his loving family after a lifelong courageous battle against Cystic Fibrosis. Nick was born on January 22, 1994 in New Hartford, the son of Sean and Patricia (Lawrence) Murphy. He was currently an eleventh grade student at Herkimer High School. At age 10, Nick was the recipient of a double lung transplant and then was able to join the bowling and track and field teams which he was extremely proud of. As a young man, he played soccer and in 1st grade played with the Herkimer Tee-Ball League. Nick was a fun-loving, outgoing and brilliant young man, recently taking up the hobby of geocaching, a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world. Although he battled CF his entire life, and more recently fought chronic rejection of his transplanted lungs, he did not let it get the best of him. Every day he lived to the fullest enjoying every single moment spent with his cherished family and friends. Nick's greatest quality was his infinite selflessness, despite being deserving of the utmost compassion and accommodation, Nick was a far greater giver than receiver to all who crossed paths with him.
