<p>ILION-Nancy G. Merchant, age 77, a lifelong Ilion resident (John Street), entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, May 20, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. She was born on Feb. 28, 1934 in Oneonta, daughter of the late Martin L.V. and Gladys (Eldredge) Merchant and graduated from Ilion High School and furthered her education attending SUNY Potsdam. An honorably discharged veteran with the US Air Force, she also served with the Air Force Band. She was last employed with Ilion Housing Authority as a billing clerk and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ilion. Survivors include her siblings: Douglas Merchant and wife Suzanne of Cazenovia, Richard Merchant and wife Sandra of Norfolk, and Barbara Winsman and husband Stew of Westport, NY; many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by two sisters: Ellen Blann and Virginia Mullooly and by a brother, Martin Merchant. Visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (894-8000) will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. with a funeral service commencing at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
