MOHAWK-ILION - Betty J. Newberry, age 70, of 517 Oregon Rd., Mohawk, died Monday, September 20, 2010, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. She was born on July 20, 1940, in Norwich, NY, the daughter of Raymond and Edith (Huckabone) Mead, and attended schools in Tennessee and New Berlin, NY. On August 25, 1956, she was married to Ervin E. Newberry in Norwich NY. Mrs. Newberry was a housewife and devoted mother. At one time she was employed at LaSalle Manufacturing in Little Falls. Survivors include her husband, Ervin; six daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and James Schulze, of Ilion, Tammy and Ralph Guerino, of Ilion, Sherry Evans and fiancé Louie Hoage Jr., of Frankfort, Madeline and Robert Gage, of Ilion, Lori and George Schulze of Ilion, and Christina and Brian Kelley, of Ilion; two sons and daughter-in-law, Ervin E. Jr. and Holly Newberry, of Ilion and Raymond Newberry and fiancée Tammy Bouck, of Cherry Valley; fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several brothers, step brothers and sisters-in-law; several sisters, including Linda Erb, step sisters and brothers-in-law, including Clarence Guyer and his wife Phyllis; several nieces, including special niece Alice Coleman; several nephews, including special nephews Doug Trask and Frank Johnston, and several cousins. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber, Pastor of the Morning Star United Methodist Church of Ilion, officiating. Interment will be in Frankfort Center Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. The Newberry family has entrusted all funeral and burial arrangements to Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
