<p>His funeral will commence on Saturday, Dec., 12, 2009 at 9:15 am from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from Blessed Sacrament Church, E. Main St., Mohawk where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director.</p>

<p>Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest and full military honors will be accorded. </p>
<b>Obituary</b>
<p>EAST HERKIMER-Mr. John Edward Osredkar, 98, of Folts Road, East Herkimer, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 7, 2009. His passing occurred in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica with the love and support of his son, Edward, by his side.
He was born on April 28, 1911 in Little Falls, the son of the late Anton and Mary (Herblan) Osredkar and attended St. Mary's Academy, Little Falls. August 11, 1953 began a 56-year union filled with love and dedication when John was united in marriage with Frances Mary Molinaro in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Osredkar passed away on September 4, 2009. A veteran of the United States Army, John served his country with patriotic pride and great honor during World War II from 1942 until 1945 when he received an honorable discharge. Upon his discharge he held the rank of Corporal. He served with the Quarter Master Corps and also during the Battle of the Bulge. John enjoyed sharing military stories with family and friends.
His community involvement was an important part of his life and held memberships with: Little Falls S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post #4612 (Charter Member), Little Falls American Legion Post #31 and was a proud and active member of the Herkimer Elk's Lodge #1439.
As a young man John began serving as a farmhand during the summer months and took pride in the fact that he delivered milk by horse and buggy. He began his professional career with the former Edgecraft Corporation which was a company that specialized in stenciling. He also gained employment with the Lundstroms Company as a woodworker. Over the course of several years, Mr. Osredkar enjoyed assisting Thomas Konchar in the operation of Konchar Funeral Home in Little Falls which is now the Enea Family Funeral Home, and was proud of the fact that he was the last surviving member of Konchar's staff. John was also formerly employed with the former Jonell manufacturing, Standard Desk Factory and Cherry Burrell Corporation where he worked for eighteen years as a material handler. His last professional employment was with Herkimer County BOCES serving as a weekend guard.
John was an accomplished wood worker and was a very talented handyman. Even into his ninety's he was taking on projects around his home. He was very proud of his family and remained devoted to his loved ones. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Osredkar is survived by his devoted son: Edward Osredkar with whom he resided with in East Herkimer; a sister in law: Josephine Terico of East Herkimer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Osredkar and Frances Houck and by two brothers: Anthony and Paul Osredkar.

Enea, funeral director.
The following organizations will gather at the funeral home on Friday evening to conduct services: Herkimer Elk's Lodge #1439 at 5:45 pm; Little Falls American Legion Post #31 at 6:00 p.m. and Little Falls S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post #4612 at 6:30 p.m. The family offers a heartfelt thank you to the emergency room, intensive care unit and doctors, nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica for the excellent care they provided. Also, a very special thank you to the dispatchers at the Herkimer County 911 Center and Rural Metro Ambulance for their professionalism.
