Ortlieb 97 a resident of the Folts Home in Herkimer, and formerly of 33 Van Buren Street Dolgeville, died Wednesday December 26, 2007 at the home. She was born on October 27, 1910 in Kezar Falls, Maine the daughter of Myron H. and Grace E. (Davis) Ridlon and attended Preparatory school in Massachusetts. She continued her education by graduating from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1934 with a BS degree in Library Science. Her marriage to Reinhart Bruno ?Stretch? Ortlieb took place on February 27, 1933 in Middletown, Maryland. Mr. Ortlieb predeceased her on November 28, 1973. Eleanor was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church, where she had been a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and a worker with single parents. She was also an Elder and organized a Prayer chain of which she was a member. She was very active when the church joined together with the Lutheran Church, forming the United Lutheran-Presbyterian Parish. She was a member of the Dolgeville Drama Players Club, and served as an assistant leader for the Girl Scouts and also worked in the Dolgeville Library and in the High School Library. Eleanor along with her husband operated Ortlieb?s Market, a meat and grocery store on Main Street in Dolgeville, until 1970 when the business closed. She is survived by her daughter and her husband Judith and Laurence Doubleday of Pecks Lake, NY, her Grandchildren Christopher and his wife Ruth Doubleday of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and Katherine and her husband Jeffrey Hawes of South Paris, Maine and her Great Grandchildren, Sara Doubleday and Hannah Hawes. Memorial services will be held on Saturday February 9th, 2008 at 11 AM in the United Lutheran ? Presbyterian Church on Faville Avenue Dolgeville. The Rev. James Paulson will officiate. There are No Calling hours. Memorials in her name may be sent to the United Lutheran ?
