<b>Visitations</b> <p></p> <b>Services</b> <p></p> <b>Cemetery</b> <p></p> <b>Obituary</b> <p>Margaret (Campeau) Ostrander, age 88, of Sherwood Acres Apts., Herkimer, formerly a longtime Mohawk resident, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. Margaret was born October 23, 1918 in Mohawk, daughter of the late Clarence and Eulalia (Duell) Campeau. She was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On October 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Russell E. "Russ" Ostrander in New York City, sharing a blessed and devoted union of over 62 years until Russ's passing June 30, 2005. Margaret was last employed as Herkimer County Deputy Commissioner of Jurors, and prior to that was the assistant to the school nurse for the Mohawk Central School district for many years. She was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, and St. Francis DeSales Church, Herkimer. At one time, Margaret was a member of the Minnowbrook Garden Club, she was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed reading and music. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Cedar Lake Golf Club with her husband, Russ, for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Utica District Woman's Golf League. Margaret's fondest memories were times spent on the links with her dear friends at Cedar Lake and in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where she and Russ wintered for over 20 years after retirement. Her greatest satisfaction came as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, caring for her family. Survivors include her three sons, Richard "Dick" Ostrander and his wife, Michele of Ilion, Robert "Bob" Ostrander of Herkimer, and Gary Ostrander and his wife, Pam of North Carolina; her cherished grandchildren, Kerry Schmidt and her husband, Bill of Whitesboro, Sharon Ostrander of Maryland, Teresa Ostrander of Rochester, Jim Ostrander of Utica, Rob Ostrander of Vermont; two great-grandchildren, Jeff and Steven Schmidt; three sisters-in-law, Dolly Piper of NJ, Millie Piper of Mohawk, and Marjorie Ostrander of Town of Warren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Russ; one sister, Frances Hummell; two brothers, Bob and Dick Piper; and a special niece, Susan Piper. Family and friends are invited to visitation Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk. Margaret's funeral service will be held Monday, November 20th, commencing at 10:15 a.m. at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, Mohawk, and 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Procession to Mohawk Cemetery for interment will follow Mass. In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorials in Margaret's name to Valley Health Services Palliative Care Program. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
