Ouderkirk, age 67, of 4321 Acme Rd., Ilion (Town of Frankfort) and formerly of Ann St., St. Johnsville, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 23, 2006 in his home. He was born in Little Falls on March 19, 1939 a son of the late Nicholas and Dorothy (Vanhorn) Ouderkirk and was educated in St. Johnsville schools. He spent most of his life in St. Johnsville before moving to Ilion in 1997. On October 20, 1962, Larry was united in marriage with Barbara Vogel at the Reformed Church in St. Johnsville with the Rev. Robert Geades, officiating. Larry and Barbara's union of 43 years was one that was characterized by their true love, their mutual devotion, and their admiration and respect for one another. He was currently employed by Remington Arms, Ilion, and was employed by the Arms for the past 33 years. He was a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church. Larry's foremost priority and primary concern in life was the happiness of his wife and his children. He was the gentle heart and the generous soul of his family, the core of its very existence. A man of many admirable qualities, Larry possessed great strength of character, a kind and thoughtful nature and a gracious manner. He found much enjoyment climbing mountains in the Adirondacks and enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara of Ilion; three cherished children: Jeffrey and Stephen Ouderkirk of Mohawk and Holly Ouderkirk of Herkimer; three sisters: Evelyn Matus of St. Johnsville, Marilyn Pryzdatek and husband Stanley of Michigan and Barbara Bernard and husband Murray of Cape Cod; two sisters in law: Beverly Campbell and husband Stephen of Amsterdam and Betty Vogel of Albany; two brothers in law: Stewart Vogel of Ft. Plain and Harry Vogel, Jr. and wife Sharon of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort, (894-8000), on Thursday, January 26, 2006 from 4-7 p.m. Larry's funeral will commence at the conclusion of calling hours (7 p.m.) in the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Engel, pastor of the Mohawk Reformed Church, officiating. Interment will be held this spring in Ft. Plain Cemetery.
