Obituary of Philip Quatrino

<p>HERKIMER-Mr. Philip R. "Phil" Quatrino, age 84, of Herkimer passed away on April 13, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica with the love and support of his family by his side. He was born on April 8, 1927 in Fonda, son of the late James and Antoinette (Festante) Quatrino and educated in Little Falls schools. He was united in marriage on September 28, 1951 with Irene P. Waseleski in St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer; a blessed union of 39 years until the passing of Mrs. Quatrino on September 4, 1992. Mr. Quatrino was a proud US World War II Veteran having served with the Navy enlisting on May 3, 1945 and was honorably discharged on May 13, 1946. He was the recipient of the American Theatre, Asiatic Pacific and Victory Medals. He was last employed as the maintenance head with Herkimer Central School retiring after 30 years of dedicated service at the age of 57. Phil was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer and a life member of the Herkimer American Legion Post #38 as well as the Utica Sons of Italy Club. Survivors include his beloved family; his children: Philip Quatrino and wife Karen of Tampa, FL, Cynthia Levinrad and husband Ira of Dale City, VA, and Pamela Griffiths and her husband Ed; his cherished grandchildren: Philip Quatrino and wife Christina, Daniel Quatrino and wife Kenyon, Gregory Quatrino and fiancé Amanda DeLude, Marc Levinrad, Shannon and Sarah Griffiths; his adored great grandchildren: Avery, Anna, and Madeline Rose; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are special friends: Laura Vashio and Tony DeAngelis. Besides Phil's parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings: Joseph, Nancy, James, Anthony and Louie. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer (866-1011) on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. A graveside service will take place at 11:30am on Saturday, April 16 from the Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer with the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer officiating. Military honors will be offered by the US Navy. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the National Arthritis Foundation; envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Jessica Battisti and Cheryl Liddon for the kindness and compassion that they offered during this difficult time. Also, a heartfelt thank you is extended to the nurses and staff at the Folts Homes, Herkimer. Members of the Herkimer American Legion Post #38 will conduct their service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday evening. </p>
