She had just started a stay at Heritage Hall South of Agawam, Massachusetts, due to complications from congestive heart failure. She was born in Mohawk on September 12, 1914, to Merlot and Lena (Bronner) Rankins, and was a graduate of Mohawk Central School. She was a 40 year retiree of SperryRand-Univac and a member of their 25 Year Club. She also belonged to AARP and the Mohawk Order of the Eastern Star. She spent the last four years of her life living in Springfield, MA, with her nephew, Alan Jarvis, where his brother, Steve, often visited. Although she missed her friends in the "Valley", she quickly adjusted to her new surroundings. She made some new friends and was able to crown her passion for the "game" by going to the Basketball Hall of Fame. She was happy and died with no regrets. Betty married W. Fred Remmers in 1952, but their happy life together was cut short when Fred died in 1968. She was predeceased by her five sisters, Helen Rankins, June Dack, Lolly Ogden, Clare Casler and Tele Ladd. She is survived by several nieces and nephews scattered throughout the US. She will be laid to rest in the Mohawk Cemetery next to her husband, Fred, at the family's convenience. At the family's request, there will be no calling hours or services. The burial has been prearranged and entrusted to the Applegate-Day &amp; Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion, Don Applegate, Funeral Director. </p>
