Washington St., Herkimer on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 4-6 p.m. </p> <b>Services</b> <p>Mrs. Rorke's funeral will commence at 8:30 am on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from the chapel of the funeral parlor where prayer will be offered and at 9 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer where her Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor.</p> <b>Cemetery</b> <p>Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. </p> <b>Obituary</b> <p>MOHAWK- Rita Catherine Rorke, formerly of 25 West Center St., Mohawk passed away on Monday evening, October 26, 2009. She was born on December 7, 1921 in Herkimer the daughter of the late Patrick and Isabel (Doyle) Murphy. She was the oldest of seven daughters and they lived on a farm in Fairfield. Rita graduated from St. Mary's Academy in June of 1939. She married the late Earl Rorke and had one son, Kevin. She started her own real estate business in May of1959, which operated for nearly forty years. She was once the President of the Herkimer County Board of Realtors, and a charter member of the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce. After she retired she continued to handle real estate for Century 21 (Rob Dietrich Assoc.). Rita enjoyed golf and was a member of the Earnest League at Pine Hills Golf Club for decades. She also enjoyed her membership in the Valley Squares, a square dance group that met regularly for several years. She was an active member of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer, the Parish Council, a leader of the Monday night prayer group, and an extraordinary minister to the elderly and the sick at Folts Homes. She was an active member in the Albany Diocesan Service Committee and traveled extensively on pilgrimage to many holy sites throughout the world. She is survived by her son, Kevin Patrick Rorke of Ilion; two grandchildren: Jennifer Rorke and son in law: Ryan Delklerck of Rochester and Alan Rorke also of Rochester; one sister and brother in law: Teresa and Andrew Korce of Sandy Lane Road, Mohawk; many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters: Anne Walton of East Springfield who died in 1989, Martha Bielejec of Mohawk who died in 1992, Kay and Connie both of New York City who died respectively in 2000 and 2004; and Joan Fuller of Herkimer, who died in 1989.
