Obituary of Philip Stone

DOLGEVILLE-Mr. Philip G. "Phil" Stone, 76 of South Main Street, Dolgeville entered into eternal rest early Saturday morning, June 11, 2011 in Folts Homes, Herkimer surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Warrensburg, NY son of the late George and Armenia (Demorast) Stone and educated in St. Johnsville schools. He was united in marriage to Norma J. Johnson on August 22, 1959 in Salisbury Center, NY, enjoying a blessed union of 51 years. A proud US Veteran, Mr. Stone served with the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1955. He received a honorable discharge. Phil was last employed for eighteen years with Stickley's Furniture in Fayetteville, NY. Mr. Stone was a talented wood worker and enjoyed making furniture and various crafts. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was always happy to play a game of pitch with his family and friends. Survivors include his loving family; his wife of 51 years, Norma of Dolgeville; his children: Robert Stone and his partner Steven of Ct., Cynthia Mosher and husband Brayton of Dolgeville, Gregory Stone and wife Amy of Tully, NY, Laurie Gillen and husband Jeffrey of Frankfort, and Michele Andrew and husband David of Syracuse; siblings: Barbara Salanco of Ilion and Violet Wolfe and husband Bill of Pa.; seventeen cherished grandchildren and six adored great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jason Stone; by two sons, Donald and Raymond Stone and by a sister, Thelma Wilsey. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., town of Frankfort-Ilion, NY (894-8000) on Thursday, June 16th, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. A private funeral will commence at 11 am on Friday, June 17th from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Cathy Lee, chaplain of Folts Homes, officiating. Military Honors will also be offered. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Kidney Foundation; envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family offers their deepest gratitude to Folts Homes, Herkimer especially mentioning the nurses and aides on the third and fifth floors. Also, a special thank you to Dr. V.
