Obituary of Ann Tolfa

SAINT JOHNSVILLE-Mrs. Ann P. (Bilobrowka) Tolfa, age 91 a lifelong St. Johnsville resident, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday evening, December 20, 2010 in St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. At the time of her passing, she had the love and support of her family at her bedside. She was born on February 13, 1919 in St. Johnsville, daughter of the late Onofre and Tekla (Naberezna) Bilobrowka and educated in St. Johnsville schools. She was joined in marriage with Peter Tolfa on April 11, 1942 in St. Patrick's Church, St. Johnsville a loving and devoted union of 61 years until his passing in July of 2004. Mrs. Tolfa was last employed with the St. Johnsville school district in the cafeteria. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, St. Johnsville and the church rosary society. As a loving and devoted family woman, Mrs. Tolfa put the needs of others before those of her own. She was a devoted caregiver to her loved ones and will be sadly missed. A talented cook, she loved to prepare dishes for everyone to enjoy and also enjoyed sewing. Survivors include her loving family; her son, Peter Tolfa and wife Mary of North Attleboro, Mass.; two daughters: Laurie Smith and husband Donald of Palatine Bridge and Rebecca Sokol and husband Joe of St. Johnsville; a sister: Julia Battisti of St. Johnsville; her cherished grandchildren: Eric Smith, Sarah (Sokol) Quigg, Ryan Sokol, Julia Tolfa and Andrew Tolfa; three adored great grandchildren: Anna and Rachel Quigg and Abigail Smith; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother: John Bilobrowka and by a sister, Mary Wadin. The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to the St. Johnsville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for their love, compassion and care given to Ann during her eight year stay with them. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Mrs. Tolfa's Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from Our Lady of Hope Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain with the Rev. Dennis Murphy officiating. Procession will follow to St. Johnsville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday morning from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at the church. In lieu of floral offerings kindly consider memorial offerings to St. Johnsville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter or the Margaret Reaney Memorial Library of St. Johnsville; envelopes will be available in the vestibule of the church on Thursday.
