(Heath) Talaba, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully Saturday evening, August 1, 2009 at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. She was born in Little Falls on August 8, 1921 the daughter of the late Claude and Ruth (Sweet) Heath. She was educated in the schools of Little Falls and it is there that she met the love of her life and soul-mate, Samuel P. Talaba. Irma and Sam were married on June 13, 1942 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. George Billy; a blessed union of 65 years until Sam's passing on September 4, 2008. Irma worked for a number of years at Fiber Manufacturing in Little Falls and also at Remington Arms during World War II. After her children were born, Irma was a stay-at-home mom and her whole world revolved around her husband and children. Irma was very active in her children's lives. She was a brownie leader, den mother, officer in the PTO and taught Sunday school for a number of years. Her church (Holy Trinity Lutheran Church) was very important to Irma. She never missed an opportunity to bake her wonderful Slovak pastries for their bake sales. Her kitchen always smelled wonderful and she especially enjoyed cooking and baking for her children and grandchildren who couldn't wait to come to her home for dinner. Irma proudly served on the Little Falls Board of Health for 30 years, helped with the Red Cross blood drives and was a voting inspector for a number of years. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted son: Sam Talaba, Jr. and wife Karen of Little Falls; her loving daughter, Claudia Wieliczka and husband Robert "Bob" of Ilion; her cherished grandchildren: Lisa Simpkins and Robert Wieliczka Jr., and her adored great granddaughter: Samantha "Sami" Simpkins; her brothers: Harry Heath and wife Janet of Clay, NY, Robert Heath and wife Pattie of Little Falls; a special sister in law: Theresa Heath; sister in law: Elizabeth Ashe; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother: Jack Heath, who was very special to Irma. In respecting Irma's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Services of cremation are being handled through the Enea Family Funeral Home. Her cremains will be buried in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls.</p>
