<p>Paul R. ?Mike? Uhlig, Sr., 78 a long time Little Falls resident, passed away on Thursday December 23, 2004 at Little Falls Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born May 18, 1926 in Oneida, the son of the late Paul E. & Katherine (Poffle) Uhlig. Mike was educated in Oneida schools and moved to the Little Falls area in 1978.
His marriage to Margaret F. Benedict took place on February 9, 1952 in Chittenango. The couple shared a blessed union of marriage for 43 years until the passing of Mrs. Uhlig on October 20, 1995.
Mr. Uhlig was a World War II Navy veteran enlisting on November 6, 1943 and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1946. He later re-enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 24, 1947 and was honorably discharged in July of 1950.
Mike was last employed at Skinner Sales in Herkimer as an Auto Mechanic.
He was a member of the Little Falls Polish Community Home, the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the Little Falls American Legion.
Survivors include 4 sons; Michael Uhlig and special friend Careen of California, Edward Uhlig and wife Sandy of Stittville, Ronald Uhlig and wife Cindy of Little Falls & Paul R. Uhlig, Jr. and special friend Trish of Little Falls, 2 daughters; Rita Busch and husband Bill of Little Falls, & Shirley Cunningham and husband Daniel of Minoa, NY, a son-in-law; James ?Whitey? Hysack and wife Shari of Little Falls, 3 brothers; Robert Uhlig and wife Ruth of Vincentown, NJ, Frank Uhlig of Oneida, and Donald F. Uhlig of South Carolina, a sister; Ginny Morey of Rome, and many grandchildren & great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews & in-laws.
He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Katherine Hysack and a brother, Clyde Uhlig.
In keeping with Mike?s wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment at Mt. View Memorial Gardens will take place in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Funeral Home, 24 w. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. A celebration of Mike?s life will be held on Tuesday December 28, 2004 from 2-5 pm at the Little Falls Polish Community Home, 92 W. Main St., Little Falls, NY where the family will be receiving friends and relatives.</p>
