<b>Visitations</b> <p>Visitation at the Applegate-Day &amp; Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West Street, Ilion will be on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 3-7 p.m.</p> <b>Services</b> <p>Mr. Vivacqua's funeral will commence at 9:15 on Monday, Nov. 17 from the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion where the Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by Deacon James Bower.</p> <b>Cemetery</b> <p>Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. </p> <b>Obituary</b> <p>ILION/FRANKFORT-Mr. Fred James Vivacqua, 77, of West River Drive, Ilion, a Frankfort native, husband of Ann (Palmer) Vivacqua, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in the comfort of his home after a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of his passing, he had the love and support of his wife and family by his side. He was born in Frankfort on January 16, 1931, son of the late Fedele and Teresa (Sylvester) Vivacqua and educated in Frankfort schools. His marriage to Ann Palmer took place in Annunciation Church, Ilion. Mr. Vivacqua proudly served his country with the United States Army enlisting on February 9, 1951 and was honorably discharged on February 8, 1953. His last professional employment was with Remington Arms, where he was a machine operator and was formerly employed for 29 years with Loblaws Grocery Store as produce manager. Fred was of the Catholic faith and a member of the St. Francis Society of Frankfort and also a founding member of the Mid-Valley Beagle Club. Fred loved his beagle canine companions. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, carpentry work and painting. He always enjoyed a good cup of coffee and was an excellent cook. Fred will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Ann of Ilion; Fred and Ann's children: Donald Vivacqua and wife Lorraine of Falls Church, Virginia, Maryjo Pedersen and husband Tom of Ilion, Ritamarie Vivacqua of Ilion; Fred's children: Frank Vivacqua and wife Debbie of New York Mills, Teresa Vivacqua, Ron Vivacqua and wife Linda of Frankfort and Fred Vivacqua and wife Mary Beth also of Frankfort; a brother: Sid Vivacqua of Frankfort; two sisters: Mary Foglia and Agnes Wilk both of Frankfort; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; in laws: Mary Vivacqua and Dolores Vivacqua of Frankfort, Jeanne Marie Palmer of Rome, Juliann Palmer, and Mary and Bill Murphy of Ilion; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his six beagles: Julie, Osha, Rollie, Princess, Titan and Daisy. He is predeceased by his siblings: Frank, Nicholas and George Vivacqua, Frances Eramo, James, Joseph, Salvatore and Carl Vivacqua. The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff, nurses, and friends and family who went above and beyond to make Fred's life easier during his struggle. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Applegate-Day &amp; Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West Street, Ilion on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 3-7 p.m. Mr. Vivacqua's funeral will commence at 9:15 on Monday, Nov. 17 from the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion where the Rev. Anthony Barratt, pastor will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Military honors will be offered at the conclusion of the funeral mass. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Fred J. Vivacqua Memorial Fund; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Members of the St. Francis Society will conduct their service at 5 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Applegate-Day &amp; Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion.
