FRANKFORT-ILION - Charles "Chuck" V. Whaley, Jr., age 59, of Pleasant Ave., Frankfort, formerly of Herkimer, Ilion and Mohawk, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 10, 2011, at home, after a long illness, with his wife, Jessie, by his side. He was born on December 11, 1951, in Utica, the son of Charles and Norma (Adams) Whaley, Sr., and attended Mohawk schools. On June 20, 1973, he was married to Jessie L. Barrett in Frankfort. Chuck was employed as a truck driver for LaSalle Labs of Little Falls and Valley Beer Distributors of Herkimer. Survivors include his wife, Jessie; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tommy and Kate Whaley, of Ilion, and Ricky Whaley, of Frankfort; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy and Roger Weaver, of Ilion, and Vicky Whaley, of Mohawk; eight grandchildren, Keisha and Stephanie Smith, Randy Stannard, and Kaiden and Landon Whaley, all of Ilion, Jasmine Eldred, Tatyana Lowe and Jennelle Eldred, all of Mohawk; his great-granddaughter, Aleyla Dygert, and expecting a great-grandson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joyce Ray, of Ilion, and Wendy and Bill Giachetti, of Mohawk; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Keith and Iris Whaley, of Florida, and Mark Whaley, of Richfield Springs; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Whaley, Sr., in July 1987; his mother, Norma Whaley, on February 3, 2002; and his baby brother, Robert, many years ago. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, October 13, 2011, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Ilion and Frankfort, with Pastor Jack Cogar officiating. Interment will be in Cedarville Cemetery near his Parents. Calling hours are Thursday, October 13, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, prior to the funeral home services. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family, c/o Jessie Whaley, 120 Pleasant Ave., Frankfort, NY 13340, to assist some of Chuck's favorite charities, including the Kidney Foundation. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home during calling hours. The Whaley family entrusted all funeral arrangements and supervision to their Family Funeral Director, Don Applegate.
