<b>Visitations</b> <p></p> <b>Services</b> <p></p> <b>Cemetery</b> <p></p> <b>Obituary</b> <p>Florian Zieniewicz, of Ilion, loving husband and father passed away on June 1, 2006, after an extended illness in Urbana, Ohio. He was born in Rome, New York, the son of the late Alexander and Anna (Sapiesko) Zieniewicz. He attended Transfiguration School, graduated from Rome Free Academy and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was a World War II Navy veteran and upon discharge from the Navy was employed by Griffiss AFB in Rome, New York. In 1964 he was transferred to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio where he worked until retirement. Florian enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort where he was a choir member and also served as a Eucharistic minister. Florian is survived by his wife of 54 years, Zenonia (Pogonowski), children, Gary Zieniewicz of Utica; Jan Zieniewicz of Oneida, daughter Janice and husband Kime Risteff of Springfield, Ohio, and a daughter Kathleen of Lakewood, Colorado. In addition he leaves behind nine grandchildren, April (Kevin) Kramer, Amelia and Adrienne Risteff, Andrew (Maddie) Zieniewicz , Jonathan and Joshua Zieniewicz, Khrystina and Richard Loper and his very special granddaughter, Heather. Other beloved family members include Victoria Kane and family, Irene and Dave Bouck and family, Alice and Wally Pogonowski, Natalie and Francis Rickard and family, Larry Cook and family, Sylvia Pogonowski and family, and members of the Ward Rommel family. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Risteff family, Diane and Ed Jenkins, Sister Virginia, Mercy Hospice, and all the compassionate doctors and nurses of Mercy Memorial Hospital of Urbana, Ohio. Deepest gratitude goes to the clergy who supported Florian and his family. Florian leaves behind friends too numerous to mention. Heartfelt thanks to Father John Yanas for his special ministering. Grampy will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to have known him. Visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort, (894-8000), will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 from 3-7 p.m. His funeral will commence at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, June 7, from the chapel of the funeral home and 11 am from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, with the Rev. John Yanas, Jr., pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to St. John's Cemetery, Newport, where committal service will be held.
