Obituary of Jennie Mondo

HERKIMER: Mrs. Jennie Mula Mondo of 134 Second Avenue passed away on October 31, 2011 at 87 years of age. Jennie was born on May 20, 1924 to James and Concetta (Bessie) Mula. She was educated in Herkimer schools and worked as a young woman in the former Derby Sportswear. She met the love of her life, the late Andrew A. Mondo, at a local carnival she nicknamed 'Andy's carnival'. They were married on November 16, 1946, in St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer. Together, they began a career as owners and operators of Andy's TV and Appliances on Mohawk Street. They retired from the business in 1986. Jennie had wonderful memories of the many customers she met over the years. Jennie devoted her life to her family. She and her husband had many memorable times at their summer camp, their trip to Spain, Las Vegas and Idaho. She loved to entertain and created memorable Italian feasts in her dining room and kitchen. She got great joy cooking and watching friends and family enjoy one another around her table. Mrs. Mondo is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws, Connie Gagliardi and husband Paul of Herkimer, Sally Anderson & husband Michael of Boise, Idaho, her grandsons and their wives, Robert A. Paul & wife Heather of Ilion, Andrew J. Tufano & wife Kate of Fort Collins, CO; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Andrew and Caitlin Jean Tufano of Fort Collins, CO; her brother and sister-in-law Vincent & Rosalie Mula; as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. Jennie made wonderful friends over the years at their summer camp in the Great Sacandaga Lake, here in Herkimer and in Utica. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew A. Mondo, her brother, Salvatore Mula, her parents, James and Concetta (Bessie) Mula and her mother-in-law, Sally Mondo. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of funeral director Daniel J. Enea, Enea Family Funeral Home. Calling hours will be on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 9:30-11am at 4309 Acme Rd, Ilion. Frankfort, NY with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to a reception to celebrate her life immediately following the memorial at Karma Piano Bar & Restaurant, 158 E. Main Street, Frankfort, NY. Those wishing may donate to the American Diabetes Association.
