St. Johnsville: Lorraine Hall-Ortiz, of St. Johnsville, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Lorraine was born on August 13, 1954 in Ilion, a daughter of the late Donald Lee Hall and Marguerite (Hoke) Hall. She grew up in Mohawk and received her education in Van Hornesville Central Schools. Ms. Hall at one time was a beautician, working out of her home, but her favorite occupation was that of a writer, writing many poems and short stories, some of which were published in the Local Touch. Lorraine is survived by her loving family, her mother, Marguerite; daughters, Barbara Vadney and her companion Jeff Hays, Crystal Quayle and her husband Donald, and Jennifer Hall and companion Scott Dunbar; and sons Travis Hyer and companion Donna Pesta and Daryl Wright and companion Dianna Streeter; 13 grandchildren, John, Matthew and Katherine Fletcher, Travis, Jr. and McKenzie Hyer, Cassandra Turrell, Hunter and Laura Wright, Britiney, Cameron, and Victoria Quayle, and Trenton and Taryn Dunbar. She also leaves her brothers, Jack, Daniel and Caleb Hall, and sisters, Donna Knouph, Robin Stritmater, Patricia Paul, Ella Warn, Carole Holleran, and Roseann Wicks, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Donald, and brothers Arthur and Thomas. Lorraine is greatly missed. She had a quick smile and a great love for people of all walks of life. She loved to hear people's life stories and listened while they spoke. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer (315-866-1011) on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 5-7 pm. There will be a graveside service at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Little Falls, on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11 am. Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Director, is serving the family.
