Obituary of Patsy Moschetto

HERKIMER: Mr. Patsy "Pat" Moschetto, age 85, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Valley Health Services with the love and support of his family. Pat was born in Herkimer on September 2, 1926, the son of the late Michael and Carmella (Fiorentino) Moschetto. He was educated in the Herkimer Schools and in 1944 joined the United States Navy serving in the American, European and Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations. He was honorably discharged in June of 1946. On October 29, 1949 he married the former Rosemary DiMatteo at St. Anthony's Church by the late Rev. Gustav Purificato, with whom he shared 40 years prior to her passing on July 8, 1990; their lives were filled with happiness, contentment, and unconditional love. Pat was at one time employed with Standard Furniture of Herkimer and Hale Manufacturing Company. Pat was a faithful communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church. He formerly belonged to and served as past commander of the Anthony R. George Post and former union president at Standard Furniture. He also was a member of the Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post. An avid sportsman and outdoorsman, he loved bowling, hunting, fishing and tending to his garden, especially growing tomatoes, zucchini and garlic. He also enjoyed watching boxing and baseball, especially the NY Yankees, "when they were winning". During the winter months, he had a passion for skating and the summer months enjoyed swimming in the West Canada Creek. Through the gift of socializing he was well known to the community, and through his keen sense of humor, he made others laugh. For Pat, family functions were made special any time that he was surrounded by his children and granddaughter and in retrospect, he was a man of great strength of character, and being a part of the mainstream of life made him happy and content. Pat is survived by his son, Michael of Herkimer; daughters, Jeanie Moehringer and husband Michael of Baldwinsville, Carmella Camardello of Herkimer; brothers, Frank Moschetto and wife Mary of Herkimer, Dominick Moschetto of Schuyler; sisters, Rose Pabes of Fort Herkimer, Livia Knapp and husband Clarence of Newport; a granddaughter, Lisa Camardello; a sister-in-law, Eva Macrina and many nieces, nephews and cousins, He was predeceased by a brother, William Moschetto. The family wishes to acknowledge the nurses and staff of the St. Johnsville Nursing Home and Valley Health Services and a special thanks to "Patsy's Angels" on 2West for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home (Harry, Kevin and Daniel Enea-Directors), 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315)866-1011.
