Obituary of Wanda Wajda

"Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God" In the end this was the life our beloved mother led. Wanda Anna Wajda passed into eternal glory to be with her Saviour Jesus Christ, on December 09, 2011 at the age of 86 years with her loving family at her bedside. She was born on Feb. 16, 1925 in Krakow, Poland. Her parents were Francis and Anna Kuzma. She had 3 sisters, Veronica, Elisabeth, Franca, and 1 brother Eugene. At age 14 Wanda and her family became prisoners of war and were taken into captivity by the Russian Army. They were displaced to a Russian labor camp. They were freed when Wanda was 17 years old. Her mother died shortly after their release. The remanent of the family settled in Moscow. It was there that Wanda obtained employment at the Polish Embassy. She was instrumental in assisting her family's migration to England. She herself went into the British army where she met and married Walter Kaminski in what was then known as Palestine. They served in the British Army together for 4 years and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and Europe. After discharge they settled in England for a time. They then re-located to Argentina and lived there for a brief period. Upon attainting sponsorship they were able to immigrate to Ellis Island. They then settled in Utica, New York. In October, 1970 she married Theodore Wajda where they resided in Whitesboro, N.Y. for 20 years. As a beloved mother of 2, a precious grandmother of 4 and a devoted great-mother of 13children. She leaves a bountiful legacy of love. Her family includes her son, Richard Kaminski and wife Bonnie of Dolgeville, N.Y. Her daughter, Elizabeth Hadlock of Whitesboro, New York. Grandchildren, Richard Sweezey, Deerfield, N.Y., Jennifer Shadduck and husband Scott, Greenville, S.C. Heather LeDoux, Manassas, Va., Christian Hadlock and wife Nora, Whitesboro, N.Y. Leah Martyniuk, and husband Kornel Little Falls, N.Y and thirteen great grand children. She is predeceased by husband Theodore, her son-in-law Dennis Hadlock. During her lifetime she enjoyed the simple pleasures of spending time with her family. Passing time crocheting, baking and developing friendships, afternoons spent visiting; these were her joys and pleasures. She was completely devoted to her children. A friend to all and generous to a fault. She was loved throughout the community. She was of the Catholic faith and had become a member of Dolgeville Christian Fellowship, her enormous trays of Christmas cookies will be greatly missed. Her final years were spent at Alpine Nursing Home where she was respected and loved by all. A memorial service will be held Wednesday evening at 6PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville, with Dr. Marvin Isum of the Dolgeville Christian Fellowship officiating. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 4PM until the time of the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian A. Roberts, Funeral Director.
