Obituary of Kathleen Aversa

FRANKFORT: Kathleen (Kay) Aversa, age 75, a longtime Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2011 at home. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by the love and support of her family. Born in Little Falls, on February 14, 1936, Kay was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Peggy) Noonan Grande. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls. On May 21, 1955 she was united in marriage to Patsy Aversa in St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. Patsy passed away on October 3, 1973. Kay, for many years held the position as Frankfort Town Clerk. She also worked at one time for Biogenic Dental Corp. in Utica and Working Solutions Career Center in Herkimer. Kay, in addition to being a great cook, enjoyed traveling and displayed great pride in spending time with her children and grandchildren. Kay was a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort and the Fort Nightly Organization. Kay is survived her sons, Mark of Frankfort, Michael and wife Monica of Minnesota, Patrick and wife Beth of Tennessee; a daughter, Colleen Vivirito and husband Sam of Frankfort; grandchildren, Ashley Monroe and husband Jake, Samantha Vivirito, Brittany Aversa, Justin Aversa, Mark Joseph Aversa, Sarah Vivirito, Patsy Aversa, Emilee Aversa and Nicholas Aversa; brothers, Jack Grande and wife Ruby, David Grande and girlfriend Cindy, Rick Grande and wife Pauline: sisters, Betty Starring, Marion DiCostanza and husband Frank, Eleanor Karpowich and husband Kazmir, Judy Warner, Lorrie Reed; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a daughter-in-law, Christine Aversa. Kay was predeceased by a son, James (Jim) Aversa. The family wishes to acknowledge Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. and Dr. Razia and staff at Slocum Dickson Medical Group for their compassion, kindness and care offered to Kay during her illness. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315)894-8000. Friends and relatives are respectively invited to attend Kay's funeral service on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort Street, Frankfort where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Reverend Anthony Barratt, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will then follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Patsy. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
