Obituary of Marycarol Miller

Webster, NY: Marycarol Miller of Webster, NY, formerly of Frankfort Center, passed away as a result of kidney disease on December 17, 2011 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Marycarol was born on July 21, 1953 in Utica, a daughter of the late Edward and Marion (Burke) Miller. She was raised in Frankfort Center, and attended Frankfort-Schuyler Schools and Utica Catholic Academy, graduating with the class of 1971. She then attended Russell Sage College, Albany, attaining her Associates Degree, then Pratt Institute in New York City, achieving a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design. She went on to become a college professor at the Pratt Institute and taught part time at Parson's New School of Design. She was also a fashion designer and was owner/operator of Marycarol Miller Studios, NYC, specializing in knitwear. Her clients included Victoria D'Angelo, Jordan Studios, Lord & Taylor, May Company, and Adrienne Vittadini. She received the Cody Award for Design while working for Ms. Vittadini. Marycarol was previously married to Mark Braverman of NYC and resided in Pocono Pines, PA until her recent move to Rochester, where she resided with her sister and loving caregiver, Joanne Marvin-Keating. She was a member of Old Historic St. John's Church, Utica. Marycarol enjoyed world travel, especially the time spent in Hong Kong with her Pratt students. Marycarol is survived by her loving family: sisters, Joanne Marvin-Keating and her husband Steven of Webster, Catie Ricci and her husband Kevin of Schuyler, and brothers, Michael Miller and his wife Marion of Clifton Park, and David Miller and his wife Pam of Frankfort Center. She also leaves her beloved nieces and nephews, especially Ceora Marvin and her fiancé Dan Heffer of Webster who was very special to her, along with Bethany Ricci and her fiancé Brian Markey, Brian Ricci, Melissa Miller-O'Reilly and her husband Chris, Andy Miller and his wife Erin, Theresa Miller, Stephanie Nashton, and Samantha Cerini, several great nieces and nephews, along with many cousins. She also leaves her feline companion, Maggie. Marycarol's services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be a gathering of relatives and friends at the Frankfort Center Firehouse from 12:30 pm - 4 pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Those wishing may make a donation in Marycarol's memory to Pratt Institute, 200 Willoughby Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11205 to establish a scholarship in her name.
