Mohawk: Kenneth Gerald Lawton, Sr., 88, of Wiley Hall in Masonic Care Community, formerly of Mohawk, passed away on December 17, 2011 in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. Kenneth was born on April 13, 1923 in Mohawk, a son of the late Seymour and Margaret (Irving) Lawton. He attended Mohawk High School and graduated with the class of 1942. He then went on to Mohawk Valley Community College. He was married to Betty Price, who passed away in 1969. He was also married to Margaret Fowler, who passed away in 1994. Mr. Lawton was employed with Sperry Rand, Utica, retiring after 26 years. He also was employed at Remington Arms. Mr. Lawton was a member of the Mohawk Masonic Lodge for over 60 years, and was Master of the Mohawk Lodge for 10 years. Kenneth is survived by his children, Ken Lawton and his wife Barbara of Mohawk, Keith Lawton and his wife Marie of Arlington, TX, Karen Damin and her husband Alan of St. Johnsville, Kelly Traylor and her husband John of Syracuse, and Kathryn Lawton of Brooklyn. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Kara and Greg Duch of CT, Christian and Marlie Lawton of Fulton, Geoffrey and Lisa Lawton of Mohawk, Jennifer and Josh Bines of Pittsburgh, PA, Amanda Traylor and her fiancé Nick Cioffi of VA , Nicole Traylor of Syracuse, Jason Damin of St. Johnsville, Peter and Amy Damin of Westerlo, NY, Adam and Jessica Damin of MD, Betty Damin of Cedarville, and Kristopher Lawton of TX; and great-grandchildren, Wren and Cole Lawton, Lawton and Cooper Duch, Gracie and Luke Lawton, Reece and Merrick Damin, and Braeden and Colden Bines. He is also survived by his companion, Ella Cool of Mohawk. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 10 am - 1 pm at Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (town of Frankfort), NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm, also at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Brian Engle of Mohawk Reformed Church. Committal will follow in Mohawk Cemetery. The Masonic Lodge members will conduct their ritualistic service at 11 am. In lieu of floral offerings, those wishing may make a contribution in Kenneth's name to the Gracie Lawton Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
