Obituary of Deborah P McTiernan

LITTLE FALLS- Mrs. Deborah P. McTiernan, 87, of Sarasota, FL and Little Falls, NY, passed away at her home in Little Falls on December 17, 2011. She was born on November 9, 1924, in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Kirkwood and Dorthea (Reynolds) Personius. On Thanksgiving Day 1955, she was united in marriage with James A. McTiernan Jr. They were married for 49 years until his passing in 2005. Deborah was a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Home Economics. She worked for several years in the test kitchen at Hansen Foods, Little Falls, NY. Deborah became a home maker and went on to obtain her Masters Degree in Teaching. She taught Home Economics and Living Skills to students with special needs at Herkimer County BOCES until her retirement in 1985. Deborah is survived by her children: James A. McTiernan III of Rochester, NY, Ellen Bennett and her husband Mark of Dolgeville, NY, Joan Adams and her husband William of Owego, NY, Mary McTiernan and her fiancée Andy Morse of Lansing, NY, and Michael McTiernan of Tibron, CA; her 10 grandchildren: Meghan McTiernan, Marisa McTiernan, Michael Kent, Alissa Kent, Lindsey Adams, Billy Adams, Mary Sonia McTiernan, Patty McTiernan, Peter McTiernan and James McTiernan; her brother Kirkwood Personius of Rochester, NY, her sister-in-law Ella Personius of Elmira, NY; and her many nieces, nephews and special cousins. She was predeceased by her husband James A. McTiernan and her brother John Personius. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10am-12pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. A religious service will take place at the conclusion of calling hours with the Rev. Janet Gleason of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring of 2012 where she will be laid to rest with her husband. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hospice & Palliative Care of New Hartford, NY and to her daily caregivers for special care they have provided.
