ILION - Robert "Bob" Bluett, age 88, of 32 N. Fifth Ave., Ilion, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. He was born on January 29, 1923, in Herkimer, the son of Harry and Ruth (Stafford) Bluett, and was a graduate of Ilion High School. Mr. Bluett was a WW II Veteran in the US Army Air Corps. On November 1, 1958, he was married to Lula Doolittle Lynch in Pennsylvania. She died on September 1, 1998. At one time, he was employed at Sperry Rand Univac, Ilion, for fifteen years. For three years, he was a Police Officer with the Ilion Police Dept. He later worked as a mail carrier for the Ilion Postal Service for twenty-five years, retiring in 1983. Bob also worked part time at C.J. Applegate and sons, Inc., Funeral Home, Ilion, for several years. Robert was a member of the Ilion United Methodist Church, former member of the Ilion Odd Fellows and member of the Ilion Elks Lodge # 1444. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Brad Mogensen, of Ilion; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Melanie Bluett, of Athens, GA; his stepson and wife, Robert and Coleen Lynch, of Mohawk; his foster daughter and her husband, Sandra and Ken Perry, of Cold Brook; one sister, Mavourneen Woodard, of Fulton; half sister, Bernice; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Lucille Beckett and Doris Morse; and one brother, James Bluett. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., prior to the funeral home service. The Ilion Elks Ritual Service will be held at 12:45 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in Bob's name. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
