Obituary of Lola Seymour

ILION - Lola Seymour, age 91, formerly of Second St. and Center St., Ilion, passed away in her sleep, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion, with her family at her side, on Saturday, January 21, 2012. She was born July 6, 1920, in Ilion, the daughter of the late Martin and Ida Hopkins Mullen. She was educated at Annunciation School and Ilion High School. On April 19, 1941, Lola married Burton T. Seymour, enjoying a union of twenty-two years filled with mutual love and commitment. Burt was a veteran of Ilion Fire Department when he tragically died in the line of duty, while fighting the Ilion High School fire on April 21, 1963. Throughout the years Lola worked at the Town Clerk's Office in Mohawk, Mohawk Data Sciences, and Wardle's Drug Store in Ilion. Lola was a member of the Annunciation Church, former member of the American Legion Auxiliary unit 6025 in Mohawk, the Women of the Moose, as Chapter 31 Past Senior Regent, and member of the College of Regents. Lola is survived by four daughters, Patricia and husband, Tony Coriale, of Seneca Falls, NY, Kathleen and husband, Clint Fuhrer, of Ilion, Barbara and husband, Daniel DeGouff, of Ilion, and Deborah Seymour, of Ilion; two sons, Michael Seymour and wife, Anne, of Ilion, and Thomas Seymour and wife, Bunny, of Ilion; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a lifelong friend, Theresa Heath, of Ilion. She was predeceased by her brother, Floyd Mullen, of Akron, OH, who passed away January 28, 1996. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, and 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, North Ilion. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 25, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, between Ilion and Frankfort on Acme Rd. The family would like to thank the administration of Mohawk Valley Health Care, their nurses, aides, Physical Therapy Dept., her beautician, and all others who took care of Lola on the second floor. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude Hospital or the Ilion Fire Dept. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Seymour family has entrusted all funeral arrangements and supervision to their family Funeral Director, Don Applegate.
