HERKIMER: Rose M. Maida, age 83, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Folts Home, Herkimer, with the love and support of her family. Rose was born in Herkimer on December 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Buttiglione) Tangorra. She was raised locally and educated in Herkimer Schools. On June 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Gregory A. Maida, Sr. at St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer; the couple sharing 53 years of love and mutual respect before Mr. Maida's passing on May 10, 2003. At one time, she worked at Aiello's Flowers in Herkimer and also held positions at MDS, Daniel Green and Mills Factory Outlet. Her love of family and the affections she shared with her grandchildren could be seen in the glimmer of her eye. During her spare time, she enjoyed watching old movies, listening to music and gardening; she had a great admiration for flowers. Rose was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Herkimer. Rose is survived her son, Gregory A. Maida, Jr. and wife Linda of Herkimer; her daughters, Karen Harris of Frankfort and Andrea Maida of San Antonio, TX; her cherished grandchildren, Gregory A. Maida, III and wife Sarah, Julieanne Swift and husband Richard, Michael Maida, Gia Vallone and Justin Vallone; one great granddaughter, Sophia Rose Maida; brothers, Frank Tangorra of Herkimer, Philip Tangorra and wife Liz of Frankfort, Michael Tangorra and wife Joan of Ohio; sisters, Bella Aiello, Lucy Marollo, Janet Palmieri and husband Bill, Palma Calenzo and husband David all of Herkimer and Kathy Barrett and husband Frank of Ilion; an aunt, Bella Bono; in-laws, Theresa Tangorra, Anita Martin, Harriett Tangorra, Paul Zito, Francis Maida, Yolanda Marucci and Rose Mullen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Cosimo, Alex and Richard Tangorra; her sisters, Elaine Zito and Vita Palumbo and her son-in-law, David Harris. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY (315)894-8000 from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, February 13, 2012. Rose's funeral will commence on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 9:15 am from the funeral home and at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer, where her Funeral Mass will be offered by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Pastor. Interment will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
