Obituary of Mildred Bleau

MOHAWK - Mildred “Millie” Bleau, age 92, formerly of S. Otsego St. and Devendorf St., Mohawk, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Folts Home, Herkimer. She was born on August 26, 1917, in Herkimer, the daughter of Oleksa and Anastasia (Rybak) Anhel. Millie graduated from Herkimer High School and Oneonta State Teachers College. On June 25, 1942, she was married to Raymond “Pete” Bleau in Herkimer. He died on May 1, 2005. In her early years, she was an elementary school teacher at Cooperstown schools. She later worked as an elementary school teacher at Mohawk schools for about twenty years, retiring in 1973. Mrs. Bleau was a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church and the NYS Teachers Assoc. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Stephen Seifritz, of Liverpool; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Donna Bleau, of Denver, CO; her brother-in-law, Carl Bleau, of Ilion; four grandchildren, Christopher Bleau and wife, Tiffanie, Niccole Bleau, Caitlin Seifritz and Molly Seifritz; one great-grandson, Edison Bleau; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Bleau. Friends and relatives are invited to Millie’s Memorial Service on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 11 AM at the Mohawk Reformed Church, 20 S. Otsego St., Mohawk, NY, with Elder Ken Palmer and Pastor Brian Engel officiating. Following the service, a gathering will be held in the church hall for refreshments and fellowship. There are no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk Reformed Church. Donation envelopes will be available at the church. All service arrangements and supervision have been entrusted to Graves-Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion; Don Applegate, Funeral Director (866-2161).
