Obituary of Frank V Marosek
LITTLE FALLS-Mr. Frank V. Marosek, 89 formerly a resident of 46 Sherman Street in Little Falls and a resident of Alpine Nursing Home for the past seven years, passed away peacefully at Alpine on Thursday morning, February 25, 2010. He was born January 16, 1921 in Little Falls, the son of Louis and Mary Medved Marosek. Frank was a graduate of St. Marys Academy class of 1939. He served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, enlisting on November 21, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 12, 1946. Frank served on board the USS Triangulum in the South Pacific one of three sailors to serve on the ship for the entire war. His decorations included the Asiatic Pacific medal with 2 stars, the Philippean Liberation medal with 1 star, the Good Conduct medal, the Victory medal, and the American Campaign medal. He was discharged as a Machinist Mate First Class. He was united in marriage to Katherine Martinovic Bowers in St. Marys Church on August 8, 1970 by the Rev. Joseph Barker. Mrs. Marosek passed away in 2000. Frank was employed for many years at Cherry-Burrell in Little Falls and concluded his working career at Remington Arms in Ilion retiring on November 30. 1982. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4612 of Little Falls. Frank enjoyed the outdoors. In his younger days, with his neighborhood friends, he hunted deer in Arietta, and spent much time lake and stream fishing for trout. In later years, he belonged to Sunnybrook Hunting Club in Salisbury. He also loved taking care of his property on upper Sherman Street in Little Falls. He is survived by a sister, Anne Kirchner, of Upper Sandusky, OH, and nephews and nieces and spouses- Louis Baum of Little Falls and Carol J. Baum of Little Falls, Dorothy Sargent (Syracuse), Eleanor Jones (Goleta, CA), Adrienne Kllc (Rochester), Conrad Marosek (Germantown, TN, Jack Marosek (Albany), Maria Naylor (Honolulu, HI), Diane Rimkis (Cicero), Dona Retchless (Cicero), Daniel Kirchner (Columbus, OH), Lee Schrader (Clinton) and Lynn Snyder ( ), brother-in-law John Martinovic (Albany), and sister-in-law Lynn Strunk (Kinderhook). Frank was predeceased by his wife Katherine on December 24, 2000, his brothers Louis Marosek Jr., John F. Marosek, Joseph (Pep) Marosek, and sisters Mary J. Baum, and Elizabeth Rimkis. His funeral will commence at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls where prayer will be offered and at 11 am on Saturday from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor. Interment with military honors will take place later in the spring in St. Marys Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10am until 10:30 am. In lieu of floral offerings, kindly consider memorial offerings in his memory to Holy Family Parish; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Alpine Nursing Home for the excellent care and attention given to Frank over the past seven years.
