Obituary of Frances Petkovsek

LITTLE FALLS-Mrs. Frances (Potrikus) Petkovsek, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 7, 2009 at Little Falls Hospital, with her loving family at her side. Frances was born on October 9, 1931 in Cooperstown, New York, the daughter of the late John and Frances Potrikus. The family moved to Little Falls in 1945, and Fran graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1949. She married Robert "Butch" Petkovsek that year, and they celebrated sixty years of love and companionship on September 24, 2009. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert "Butch" Petkovsek of Little Falls, children Robert Jr. and wife Ann of Finksburg, Maryland, Barbara George and husband Anthony, Joanne Yette, Jean Read and husband David, John and wife Dana, David and wife Robin, and William, all of Little Falls, and her many grandchildren, Sara and Justin George, Jenny Broat and husband Joe, Amy and Maryann Petkovsek, Matthew Yette, Kristin Smith and husband Jeremy, Andrew, Brian, and Katie Read, Krystyna and Danielle Petkovsek, Brandon Yule, Jacob Grose, and sisters Dorothy Murphy and husband Thomas, and Marie O’Toole and husband Thomas. She also leaves many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by sisters Agnes Smith, and Anna Bayo, and brothers John Potrikus and Leo Potrikus. Fran loved best the time spent with her family, gardening, trips to Atlantic City, and anything and anyone who would make her laugh. She also enjoyed the companionship of her family’s pets. Calling hours will be held at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls on Friday, October 9, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral will be held Saturday morning, Oct. 10 at 10:15am at the funeral home where prayer will be offered and 11:00am at Holy Family Parish Church with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor officiating. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the 6th Floor nursing staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, the 3 East nursing staff at Little Falls Hospital, and the Little Falls Ambulance Corps for their extraordinary assistance during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Little Falls Library Fund or the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
