Obituary of Raymond Bourdenet

Herkimer: Raymond J. Bourdenet, 84, of Prospect Street, Herkimer, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica. Raymond was born June 22, 1925 in Toulouse, France, the son of the late Jules and Jeanne (Chapin) Bourdenet. He was a life long resident of Herkimer and a graduate of Herkimer High School. His marriage to Dorothy E. Peterson took place on November 21, 1964 in Schuyler and she passed away April 1, 1991. Ray was a World War II Army Veteran enlisting on October 8, 1943. He was discharged on December 30, 1945 serving in the European-African Theatre of Operations. He was last employed at Univac of Utica and also at one time worked at the Library Bureau in Herkimer. He was a member of the Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post Herkimer, the Herkimer American Legion Post, as well as the DAV. Raymond was an avid bowler and golfer and found much pleasure in playing cards and fishing with his buddies. Survivors include his sister: Irene Starna of Herkimer; two daughters: Janice Sharrino and husband John of Rome and Linda Mascaro and husband George of Beaumont, CA; grandchildren: John Sharrino and wife Amy, Danica Sharrino, Stacy Martin and husband Dean, Marisa Harman and husband Jeff, and Anthony Mascaro and wife Liz; six great-grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 12:00 Noon from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer with the Reverend Mark Cunningham officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 5-7 PM. Spring burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Members of the Herkimer VFW and the American Legion are asked to meet at the funeral home Friday at 5:30 PM for services.
