Obituary of Joseph Chirico

Herkimer: Mr. Joseph M. Chirico, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away at the Loretto Home, Utica, on Friday, October 23, 2009. Joseph was born in Herkimer on September 26, 1931, a son of the late M. Joseph and Ida (Purpura) Chirico. He attended and graduated from Herkimer High School, then went on to the National School of Meat Cutters. He was employed for many years at Cut Rate Supermarket in Herkimer. Mr. Chirico was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph, Herkimer. Joseph is survived by his brothers: Francis of Herkimer and Matthew of Cocoa Beach, Florida; a brother-in-law: Nicholas Macrina; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters: Theodora Demnitz and Mary Teresa Macrina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Chirico’s Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated by the Reverend Anthony Ligato, which will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 10 am at Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main Street, Herkimer. Following the Mass, Joseph will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. There are no calling hours.
