Obituary of Lucy Enea
HERKIMER-Mrs. Lucy T. (Covuoto) Enea, 92, a longtime resident of 305 South Washington Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009. Her passing occurred in Valley Health Services, Herkimer where she had been residing. She was born in Dolgeville on April 1, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Angelina (Politi) Covuoto and educated in Dolgeville schools. In 1940, Lucy married her one and only love, Harry Enea, Sr., a blessed and loving union of 65 years until his passing on February 23, 2005 combining their love, dedication and hard work to provide for their family. Mrs. Enea was with her husband nearly every day and was by his side even on the day of his passing. The couple enjoyed many wonderful times dancing and conversing with their friends at social gatherings. Mrs. Enea considered her career staying home and taking care of my husband and kids. She loved her Italian heritage and this was evident by her many wonderful Italian dishes she prepared for her family members to enjoy. Mrs. Enea was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. She was a former member of the St. Francis Society, Herkimer VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a very active member of the Village of Herkimer Senior Citizens. Gifted with a generous and caring heart, she was never more content than when she was helping and caring for her loved ones. She constantly proved herself to be unselfish, tireless and dedicated in fulfilling the needs of her husband, children and grandchildren. As the saying goes, Italian life is centered around the family and the table is where the family comes together, Lucy dedicated her life to this deed. Preparing and serving fantastic meals were a passion for Lucy. Dancing with her husband Harry was one of the many highlights in her life. Smiles, laughter, fun stories and genuine love made Lucy a gift to us all. She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts. Survivors include five beloved children, Julia "Judy" Mroz, Lucille Enea, Barbara Cacciatore, Harry J. Enea, Jr. and wife Lisa, and Vincent A. Enea and wife Elaine; a sister: Rose Darling of Dolgeville; two brothers: John Covuoto and wife Ann of Florida and Andrew Covuoto of Dolgeville; twelve cherished grandchildren, Harry J. Enea, III and wife Kim, Joseph Cacciatore and Amy of Ilion, Brian Mroz and wife Mary, Kristin Coleman and husband Mick, Sean Cacciatore and wife Jennifer, Karlee Tamburro and husband Joe, Kevin E. Enea and wife Kristy, Jason Cacciatore and wife Brandy, Andrew Enea and wife Darcie, Vincent Enea and wife Sarah, Daniel J. Enea, and Elyse Enea; numerous adored great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister in law: Lovisa Enea of Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson: Anthony M. Enea in January of 2009; by a brother: Vincent Covuoto in World War II; by four sisters: Sophie, Josephine Honey Cooney, Chancie Miller and Mary Loccia and by her son in law: William Bill Mroz. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. Mrs. Eneas funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 11 am from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Harry. Memorial offerings may be made to the Anthony M. Enea Ride for Life; envelopes are available at the Enea Family Funeral Home. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. James Ward, and the nurses and staff of Valley Health Services who offered much kindness and compassion throughout Lucys stay with them and offered loving care on her final days. Also, a heartfelt thank you from the Enea Family to those who offered many kinds acts of sympathy extended during this difficult time. Members of the Village of Herkimer Senior Citizens will conduct their service on Friday at 4:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
