Obituary of Florence Fagan

RICHFIELD SPRINGS/HERKIMER-Mrs. Florence M. (Pickersgill) Fagan, 86 of East German Street, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica with the love and support of her family by her side. She was born in West Winfield on August 26, 1923, daughter of the late Charles and Louise Pickersgill and graduated from Richfield Springs High School. Mrs. Fagan was joined in marriage with Robert J. Fagan, Sr., on July 14, 1945 in St. Francis de Sales Rectory in Herkimer with the Rev. John R. Kehoe officiating. A union of 57 years, Mr. and Mrs. Fagan shared an abiding love and respect for one another and a deep commitment to their marriage and raising their children. She was last employed at the former Remington Rand as a secretary. Mr. Fagan passed away on March 3, 2003. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Fagan enjoyed many sunsets and family times at camp on Canadarago Lake, Richfield Springs. But her greatest and most fulfilling relationships were derived from her family who she adored and appreciated. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include two beloved sons, James V. Fagan of Newport and Robert J. Fagan, Jr. of Mohawk; a daughter in law: Susie Fagan of E. Herkimer; two cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Brendan Fagan, a sister: Gladys Johnston of Fl., and a sister in law: Mildred Pickersgill of South Carolina, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving is her feline companion, Molly. She was predeceased by her parents, step-father, one brother Charles and a brother in law Robert Johnston. In keeping with Mrs. Fagan’s wishes there are no public services. Her cremains will be buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Funeral assistance is being provided by the Enea Family Funeral Home of Herkimer, Daniel J. Enea, director. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the devoted staff of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica especially mentioning the 3rd floor ICU for their kindness and compassion.
