HERKIMER- Mr. Orlando "Babe" Ferrucci, of N. Prospect St. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his residence. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday. "Babe" survived colon cancer at the age of 42 and attributed his longevity to eating fresh garlic everyday. He was born on September 11, 1909 in New Haven, CT, son of the late Michael and Lucy (Campatelli) Ferrucci. He was united in marriage to the late Elizabeth DeLucia on October 15, 1932. He loved his work and drove a truck well into his late 80's. Orlando was devoted to his family and friends and will be sorely missed. Survivors include his sons Michael Ferrucci and his wife Diane of Rochester, Joseph Ferrucci and his wife Grace of Fly Creek; his daughters Margaret Earing and her husband James of Sherburne and Lucille Bailey and her husband Charles of Florida; his 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In keeping with Orlando’s wishes there are no calling hours. There will be a graveside service for family and friends on Friday, October 9,2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery.
