Obituary of John Piseck

HERKIMER/ILION-Mr. John Joseph Piseck, of Flower Drive, Ilion passed away on Thursday evening, November 12, 2009 in Little Falls Hospital, with his family by his side. John was born in Albany on November 28, 1934, son of the late Joseph and Michalina (Raczkowska) Piseck and educated in St. Francis de Sales and Herkimer High School. On December 29, 1989 he was united in marriage with Margit Singer-Palmitesso; enjoying a union of 20 years. John retired from Remington Arms, Ilion following 30 years of dedicated service where he proudly held the position of Gun Assembler. He served our country in the United States Navy. Mr. Piseck and his wife spent many happy hours visiting Germany, especially Bavaria, where they were in both 1995 and 2004. They also spent many days touring Austria, Czechoslovakia, and many other places in Bavaria. John was a member of the Kiwanis group for many years. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Piseck loved to read and watch DVD’s. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and was always there when you needed him. His favorite sports teams were the Green Bay Packers, NY Yankees and Notre Dame. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew him. John had a way to make everyone feel better by just being around him and cherished his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and will always be in our hearts and forever in our minds. Survivors include his loving family; his wife of 20 years: Margit; two daughters: Nancy Pollak and husband Daniel of Herkimer and their daughter Marissa and Jennifer Piseck of Bethel, CT; two sons: John Piseck and Philomena Stagliano and Philomena’s son Dane of Herkimer and Stephen Piseck also of Herkimer; mother of John's children: Mildred Piseck of Herkimer; step children: Roe and Gordon Provorse, Peter and Patricia Palmitesso, and Joe Palmitesso and Marisa Aiello; step grandchildren: Tonya and Leo Meyers, Frank and Heather Manella, Justin Manella, Crystal Manella, Sarah Palmitesso, Peter Palmitesso, Jr., Anthony Palmitesso, Kalin Lee and Antonio Aiello; step great grandchildren: Leo Meyers, III, Ryan Meyers, Caleb Meyers, Olyvia Manella, Gabryella Manella, and Bryana Manella; in laws: Joe and Patricia Singer and their daughter, Tricia who John and his wife traveled to Germany with and Pete and Joanne Sait; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by sisters: Edna Fiederowicz of Dolgeville; Sophie Maddy of Herkimer, Mary Collis of Syracuse and Frank Piseck of Herkimer. Mr. Piseck’s funeral will commence at 11 am on Monday, November 16, 2009 from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday morning from 9-11 am, prior to the service. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial offerings to the Frankfort Kiwanis club; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and Dr. Mook of Bassett Healthcare for their kindness and compassion. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Little Falls Hospital for their care offered. Arrangements are being handled by director, Daniel J. Enea.
