Obituary of Lois Goldsmith

Ilion: Lois Goldsmith, 87, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away in Valley Health Services, Herkimer, on Saturday, January 23, 2010. Lois was born on November 21, 1922 in Luzerne, PA, a daughter of the late William A. and Mary Louise (Evans) Ramsey. On June 27, 1942, Lois married Henry B. Goldsmith, Jr. in Ilion. She and Henry enjoyed a loving union of 58 years until his passing on July 17, 2000. Lois was active in the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, and the PTO. She was also involved with the Ilion Camp Kiwanis and, at one time, served as their business manager. She also assisted the Republican Committee. Mrs. Goldsmith is survived by her daughter, Carol Hadcock of Ilion, and her son, William and his wife Dorothy of Gloversville; a son-in-law, Tim Wheeler of Ilion; her grandchildren : Brian and Susan Lynch of Atlanta, GA, Stephen and Stacie Lynch of Warwick, NY, Thomas and Sharon Hancock of Charlotte, NC, Kelly and Brian Tero of Herkimer, Krista Goldsmith of Buffalo, William and Renee Goldsmith of Ilion, Lin Dee & Eric Douglas of Fort Plain, and Missy Levoy and Shane of Amsterdam; 15 great-grandchildren; her special friends, Helen and Tom Jones of Verona; and many in-laws. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry, a daughter, Marie Wheeler, and her brothers, Merle and William Ramsey. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 4-7 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, between Ilion and Frankfort (894-8000). Her funeral service, conducted by the Reverend George Greene, will take place at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours.
