Obituary of Fern Traut

FRANKFORT-Mrs. Fern Louise (Coscomb) Traut, 76 a longtime town of Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 17, 2009 in the comfort of her home. At the time of her passing, she had the love and support of her family by her side. She was born in Steuben, NY on September 24, 1933, the daughter of the late George and Ella (Judd) Coscomb and attended Remsen High School. On December 16, 1950 she was united in marriage with Jackson Traut in the Frankfort Center Methodist Church sharing a loving union of 58 years. Fern was last employed with Baker’s Florist and Greenhouses, Herkimer Road, Utica. She was of the Methodist Faith. Fern was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a talented plaster craft maker and enjoyed displaying her work on her front lawn. Survivors include her beloved family; her husband Jackson of the town of Frankfort; her children: John Traut and wife Elizabeth of the town of Frankfort, and Robert Traut and wife Kim also of the town; her sister: Arvilla Pinkard of Virginia; grandchildren: Timothy and Lauren Traut, David Traut, Morgan and Hailey Traut; two great grandchildren: Jordan and Brandon Traut; many nieces, nephews and cousins; half brother and sisters: George Coscomb, Darlene Kelley, Delores Firley and Diane Gates. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Coscomb; one sister: Beverly Yager; a brother: Carlton Coscomb and by a half sister: Dawn Coretti. In respecting the wishes of Mrs. Traut there are no public calling hours. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 20, 2009 from 10:30 until 11 am and invited to attend her funeral service commencing at 11 am also on Friday. The service will take place at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, town of Frankfort, 894-8000 with the Rev. Deborah Waldron, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs, officiating. Procession will follow to Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica where she will be laid to rest. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Care, Inc., for their care and compassion. Contributions in Mrs. Traut’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society; envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. Arrangements are by director-Daniel J. Enea.
