Obituary of Shirley Miller

Mrs. Shirley Marie Miller 83 a resident of the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in St. Johnsville, and formerly of 91 South Main Street Dolgeville, died Wednesday January 20, 2010 at the home. She was born in Croghan, New York on January 3, 1927 the daughter of George A. and Alma (Martin) Leavitt and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She continued her education by attending the Utica School of Commerce. Her marriage to Harold L. Miller took place on October 16, 1954 in the Annunciation Church in Ilion. Mr. Miller predeceased her on January 15, 2009. Shirley was employed as a private secretary at the former Remington Rand Company of Ilion and also was a floral arranger at Hokes Flowers in Ilion. She was active in Owen D. Young School activities, while residing in that area, and she personally enjoyed building doll houses and the miniature furniture that went with them. She also had a Tea Cup Collection of which she was very proud of. She is survived by her sons Daniel Miller of Mohawk, Steven and Karen Miller of St. Augustine, Fl., her daughters Susan and her husband Carl Stallman of Dolgeville, Annemarie and her husband Gary Creason of Bedford, Mass. ,Denise Sanzio of Stow, Mass., a Brother Bernard Leavitt and his companion Gwyen of Ovid, New York, her Sisters Ann and her husband Stan Nauman of Dubuque, Iowa, Carolyn and her husband Jack Riedel of Leesburg, Fl., 10 Grandchildren and a Great Granddaughter. She was predeceased by a Brother Robert and a grandson Phillip Leslie Stallman. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Spring burial with graveside services will be in the Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
