Obituary of Ann Sarpen

Mrs. Ann L. Sarpen 92 a resident of the Pocopson Home in Westchester,Pa. and formerly of 22 Park Avenue Dolgeville, died Thursday December 3, 2009 at the home. She was born in Utica, New York on November 1, 1917 the daughter of Jacob and Emily Lewicki and attended rural school. Her marriage to Edward P. Sarpen took place on July 1, 1939 in the former Zion Lutheran Church in Dolgeville. Mr. Sarpen predeceased her on August 18, 1986. Ann was employed by the former Daniel Green Shoe retiring from there in 1972. She also worked for the New York State Thruway Authority at Indian Castle for a number of years. She moved to Pennsylvania in 1990 to be closer to her sons and their families. She was a member of the Lutheran Church while residing in Dolgeville and personally enjoyed animals, flower gardens and Polish polka music, but none more than her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons and their wives Dennis and Annie Sarpen of New Freedom, PA, and Gary P. and Donnarae Sarpen of Dowington, PA, her grandsons Paul, Joshua, Jacob and Troy, also Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her Brothers Joseph and John Lewicki and her sisters Victoria and Sophie and a life long childhood friend Frances Lockwood in 2007. Funeral services will be held Friday December 11, 2009 at 11 AM at the United Lutheran – Presbyterian Church on Faville Avenue Dolgeville. The pastor Rev. James Paulson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Calling hours are on FRIDAY morning December 11th from 9:30AM until 10:30 AM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. The family as requested that memorials be sent to the Pocopson Home 1695 Lenape Road, Westchester, PA.
