Mrs. Connie J. Smith 72 0f 217 Bliss Road lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on Monday October 12, 2009 and passed into eternal rest at the Folts Home in Herkimer. She was born on June 25, 1937 in Gloversville, the daughter of John and Frances (Frank) Manchester. She was a graduate of the Oppenheim –Ephratah Central School class of 1956. Her Marriage to Ralph Q. Smith Sr. took place on June 29, 1957 in Caroga, New York. Connie was first employed at Beechnut Company, and retired from the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville in 1998. Connie put a smile on the faces of everyone she encountered with her unselfish personality and energetic sense of humor. She especially enjoyed spending time with the family and friends especially watching her son and grandson race go-karts, and her special visits from her grandchildren in Virginia. Her home and yard were always full of neighborhood children whom she made feel like her own. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, stock car racing, football, dancing and going for rides. She is survived by her husband Ralph Sr. of 52 years, her Sons and their wives Ralph Jr. and Leona Smith of Stratford, Todd and Tina Smith of Richmond, Virginia, her grandchildren John, Alex and Bethelle and a Sister Betty Hulsaver of Caroga Lake., several Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers John and Don Manchester and her sisters Jean and Ruth. Funeral services will be held Friday October 16, 2009 at 11 AM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Thomas Flanders of the Reformed Church of St. Johnsville will officiate. Burial will follow in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Calling hours are on Thursday from 5-8 PM.
